Nóri Varga
I am Nóri Varga, I was born on January 26, 1985 in Hajdúböszörmény. Besides my three little girls, the music that can’t be missed in my life. I hadn’t even trumpeted in half a year when the Jazz Melon Big Band was formed, where they were very welcome to see it as a trombone. That’s when I dropped into the world of old jazz. After high school, I graduated from the Kőbánya Music Studio, where I could learn from Fekete Pisti, Kornél Fekete-Kovács, Ferenc Schreck. During this period I played in a ska-punk band in Debrecen, Skafunderz, with whom I lived a lot of festivals and got to many places. My desire to study did not decrease, so I made a successful admission to the jazz trombone department of the Liszt Ferenc University of Music. During my university years, I joined a band representing amazing, authentic Cuban genres, CubaRitmo. At university, I delved even deeper into big band music under the direction of Attila László, with whom I was also lucky to have a great Müpás concert, where we could accompany Patti Austin with the LFZE senior big band. I already had to postpone my graduation concert because I was wearing my twin daughters, Abigél and Árven, in my tummy in 2011. In 2014, my third little daughter, Ameli, arrived. I’ve been playing in the Catsby electroswing band for a while since 2017, here came Ruby Harlem, which has been a matter of my heart ever since. I got into the wind section of Beatrice, where the bigger concerts can only be imagined with us. They invite me to play more and more band sessions (e.g. Ladánybene 27, The Biebers, Király Király and Linda) so I can try myself in many styles. It is a great honor to be the first woman on stage among the 11 instrumental musicians of the Studio this summer. My latest formation is the Red Shoes, where female energies dominate. With Alexandra Pádár and Lilla Dakos, we enjoy music, where we compose not only acoustically, but also with live electronic accompaniment. As a novelty, I am influenced by the fact that I also play music with a DJ, it is a kind of improvisation, which is very exciting, because you have to be at home in a lot of styles.

During my university years, I was lucky enough to perform as a duo with Attila László and Károly Binder. It was a great honor for me to be able to play a solo in the great hall of the university at the 50th anniversary concert of the University of Jazz.
